CITY WIDE FIREWORKS BAN:
Due to Stage Two fire restrictions, anything that has to be ignited with a flame is banned until at least 7/5.
At the recommendation of the American Fork Fire Chief and the Fire Marshal, we are following Governor Cox’s Executive Order to prohibit discharging of personal fireworks within the city limits.
This decision was made after much thought and careful consideration of many factors including: current drought conditions, severe dry vegetation and of firefighter resources already stretched statewide.
I realize that historically fireworks have been an important part of our Independence Day celebrations. I truly wish that conditions were different and we could proceed as normal. I appreciate your understanding and support at this critical time.
Mayor Denise Andersen
Dear Cedar Hills Residents,
As many of you are aware, Governor Spencer Cox issued an executive order granting authority to the State Forester to temporarily prohibit fireworks statewide through July 5th due to the elevated fire risk across Utah.
The safety of our residents, first responders, and our community is our highest priority. We are carefully reviewing the executive order and order from the State Forester and will be working closely with the American Fork Fire Department and the Fire Marshal to understand how these orders affect our city and determine the appropriate course of action.
We will provide additional information as soon as our review is complete and we have received the Fire Marshal’s recommendation. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we take the time to make a thoughtful, safety-focused decision.
Thank you for your cooperation and your commitment to helping keep Cedar Hills safe.
Denise Andersen
Mayor, Cedar Hills

However, because a drought is expected this year, the state is encouraging residents to WAIT until Mother’s Day (5/10) to water. Waiting to water not only helps your lawn's roots grow deeper, but saves you money and helps conserve our limited water supply! For more information on water conservation, visit https://conservewater.utah.gov/
The recreation program registration website is currently down. We're working to fix the issue as soon as possible. Registration deadlines will be extended.
The City is aware of the street light issue near 4600 W and Cedar Hills Dr. A power line was struck due to a construction incident. City employees are currently onsite to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience!

Fireplaces are a great amenity when they are properly used and maintained. Do not discard hot ashes from your fireplace into plastic trash cans. Ashes will stay hot and can insulate themselves well after the flames have been extinguished. Make sure ashes are kept in metal cans away from other trash and have been completely cooled before disposing of them.
Recycling locations for live Christmas trees ONLY (no artificial trees) will be available at the following locations IN THE MARKED AREAS ONLY:
Mesquite Soccer Park parking lot, 10440 N Mesquite Way
Heritage Park parking lot, 4425 W Cedar Hills Drive
Harvey Park parking lot, 4301 W Harvey Blvd
All attachments must be removed from the trees, including stands. Flocked trees are NOT accepted, as they are not recyclable. No other waste, garbage, or commercial dumping is permitted. Mixed loads cannot be recycled.
