The interlocal committee representing Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Draper (Utah County portion only), Highland, and Lehi is pleased to announce that “Aspen Peaks School District” (APSD) has been selected as the temporary name for the new school district in northern Utah County.
In February, the committee invited residents to participate in the naming process through an open survey. More than 1,100 residents from the six cities submitted names, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm and pride in shaping the future of local education. After careful consideration, Aspen Peaks School District (APSD) was chosen as the temporary name. The district’s future school board will ultimately select the final name.
The creation of a new school district has sparked important conversations about improving local representation, promoting educational equity, and better serving the diverse needs of families and schools in the community.
The next step in this process will be the election of seven board members to represent the new Aspen Peaks School District. Voters will elect the new board on November 4, 2025. Board members will serve staggered terms of either three or five years. Interested candidates must file their Declaration of Candidacy in person at the Utah County Clerk’s Office between June 2 and June 6, in accordance with Utah Code 20A-9-203.
