Jenney Rees, City Council

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” ~ Marjorie Moore

It’s a new year and what better way to kick it off than to get involved in the community. As a city, we rely not only on staff and officials to make things happen but also on numerous volunteers who dedicate time and effort to make Cedar Hills a wonderful place to live. I want to thank all of those who serve on our many committees:Planning Commission: Glenn Dodge (chair), Donald Steele, Craig Clement, David Driggs, Bradley Weber, and Jeff Dodge. Recently resigned members are Michael Geddes (elected to the City Council) Tonya Edvalson, and Emily Cox

Beautification, Recreation, Parks and Trails: Boyd Wilkins (chair), Melissa Willie, Adrian Juchau, Nick Ivins, Lynn Corbett

Board of Adjustment: Priscilla Leek (chair), Jeff Lindstrom, Darin Lowder, and Randy Gehring

Family Festival: Jerianne Conroy (chair), Keith Irwin, Daryl Acu men, Anji Branch, Ben Cahoon, Emily Cox, Angela Johnson, Rob Olsen, Joe Phelon, Madee Proffitt, Michael Stuy, Melissa Willie

Traffic Safety & Livability Oversight: Glenn Dodge, Larry Locken and John Howard

YCC Resident Liaison: Emily Cox

These individuals do so much for our community. If you see them out and about, please thank them for all of their service.

There is still a need for additional volunteers. We are looking for residents who are willing to serve on our Beautification, Recreation, Parks and Trails Committee; the new Water Conservation Committee; and during our Family Festival week. As stated in the quote above, each of us, when we volunteer, has the opportunity to help define what kind of community we live in. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions regarding these committees, please contact the City of Cedar Hills at frontdestk@cedarhills.org or call 801-785-9668, ext. 100.
