August 8, 2012

Cedar Hills – During a meeting on August 7, 2012, the Cedar Hills City Council passed a resolution declaring August 8, 2012, as Arielle Martin Day. Martin, who is originally from Cedar Hills, was scheduled to compete with the US BMX Olympic Team in the London 2012 Olympics. Her dreams of competing came to an abrupt end when she was injured during a training session prior to leaving for London. The resolution recognizes Martin’s dedication and effort in pursuing her goal of competing in the Olympics and states that Martin “exemplifies the traits, abilities, and drive that inspire others in our community to pursue their own personal goals and dreams.”
“We wish to express our appreciation to Arielle Martin for the example that she provides to others,” stated Councilmember Trent Augustus. “We are pleased as a city to honor her on this day.” The complete resolution may be viewed here.
