Cedar Hills Appoints New Mayor
July 20, 2012
CEDAR HILLS – During a special meeting held on July 19, 2012 the Cedar Hills City Council appointed Gary Gygi to serve as Mayor. Mr. Gygi will complete the current term, which will be up for election in 2013.
Nine candidates were interviewed by the City Council on Thursday night and many residents were in attendance. Each candidate was given three minutes to make an introduction and each had an opportunity to answer questions previously submitted by residents. After that, the Council asked questions of each of the candidates individually.
“It was wonderful to see so many residents apply for this vacancy,” said Councilmember Jenney Rees. “After a long interview process we felt that Mr. Gygi was best qualified to serve as Mayor as we work on bringing our community together while continuing to provide excellent services to our residents. Mr. Gygi’s business and financial experience will also be a great asset as we work to expand our commercial base.”
Once the Council made the decision, Gary Gygi was sworn in to office by deputy city recorder, Gretchen Gordon.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve as Mayor of Cedar Hills,” said Mayor Gygi. “This is a wonderful city with a lot of potential. Great things are happening. I look forward to working with residents, staff, and the Council as we work towards a successful future.”
