At the City Council meeting, held September 13, 2022, the City Council adopted an ordinance regulating the use of electronic bikes and other motorized vehicles on City trails. While e-bikes and motorized scooters are a common way to recreate for both kids and adults, they present a safety issue for users of the City trail system. Local trauma units have seen an increase in incidents stemming from the use of these types of vehicles. The code as adopted, prohibits the use of motor vehicles, including type II and III e-bikes, motorcycles, golf carts, mopeds, and all other off highway vehicles from being used on City trails. In most cases, the trails throughout Cedar Hills are eight feet or less in width, and a motorized vehicle can severely injure pedestrians and other trail users.
