Dear Residents and Property Owners,

Due to extreme risk associated with protecting life and property within our communities and particularly within the Wildland Urban Interface, Lone Peak Fire District is prohibiting open burning for the normally open burning window from September 15 through October 30.

This includes recreational fires in fire pits and any fireworks or other pyrotechnic display. Our area is experiencing extended high temperatures, ongoing wind potential, dangerously low fuel moisture content, and low relative humidity. Please understand that our intent is purely driven by risk assessment and reduction. As such, no permits will be issued, and strict enforcement will be in place.

Respectfully,

Reed M. Thompson
Fire Chief | Lone Peak Fire District
