Kick off the summer with fun for the whole family! Family Festival is a special time for the community to come together for summer fun! Dates for the 18th annual 2013 Family Festival are June 3-8.

June 3:  Family Swim Night

June 4:  Firecracker Golf Tournament

June 6:  Family Fun Run

June 7:  Carnival, Steak Dinner ($5) and Movie in the Park

June 8:  Parade, Carnival, Concert in the Park, Fireworks

Family Swim Night - June 3
Bring the family for a fun night at the Pleasant Grove Vetereans Memorial Pool, 450 West 500 North. The pool will be open to us from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $2 per person, age two and up. Purchase tickets at the gate or order in advance using the ticket order form above.

Firecracker Golf Tournament - June 4
Sign up your foursome at the Cedar Hills Golf Club, 10640 N Clubhouse Drive, or call the Pro Shop at 801-796-1705. Tournament begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Family Fun Run & Fundraiser - June 6
The Purple War: An opportunity for Cedar Hills residents to serve

Join us for a Family Fun Run and Bake Sale, as funds are raised for Trisha Howard, a strong and courageous Cedar Hills resident. Trish has had—and beaten—Hodgkins Lymphoma three times, and is currently in treatment for a fourth time. The official color of Hodgkins Lymphoma is violet, thus “The Purple War.” We invite you to participate with her friends in their efforts to raise funds for the family.

The Purple War will include a free, one-mile fun run, with voluntary cash donations accepted for Trish. The Purple War will be held on the evening of Thurs., June 6. The Fun Run begins at 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Park parking lot, 4425 W Cedar Hills Drive. There will be a bake sale and a table selling donated handmade crafts, jewelry, etc. at the park after the Fun Run.

Take non-baked items for the craft sale to the Proffit residence (9913 North 4680 West) during the week prior to June 6. Baked goods should be delivered any time on June 5. There will also be a bake sale on the parade route on June 8 and a table at the carnival selling donated baked goods, hand-made crafts, jewelry, and other items.

Carnival - June 7 & 8
The Family Festival Carnival is held at Heritage Park, 4425 W Cedar Hills Drive, from 11am to 10:30pm. Midway West Amusements will provide rides, games, and concessions. Purchase tickets for the carnival rides at the gate, or order tickets in advance before May 31 and SAVE!

 
Children's Games - June 8
The Youth City Council will be on hand to provide children's games, including the popular Buried Treasure Hunt at the volleyball court at noon, the Ducky Derby in the creek at 12:20, BINGO, face painting, and more!

Steak Dinner and Movie in the Park - June 7
Enjoy a catered steak dinner for $5 at 7pm, and then kick back and watch a family-friendly movie under the stars. Bring blankets, pillows, and lawn chairs for a fun family time! Tickets for the dinner will be available at the gate, or order tickets in advance and SAVE! The movie, Madagascar 3, is free for everyone!

Parade - June 8
The Family Festival Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Deerfield Elementary School, runs west on Harvey Blvd., north on 4600 West, then east on Cedar Hills Drive to Heritage Park. The grand marshal this year will be Quincy Lewis, Lone Peak High School's head basketball coach and recent recipient of the Naismith Boys High School Basketball Coach of the Year award.

Want to be in the parade? Cedar Hills welcomes floats, animals, bands, performing groups, decorated cars, trucks, ATVs, small vehicles, and bicycles. Concert in the Park - June 8
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the music of two bands: The Bayloaf 4 (a local group from Cedar Hills) and The Flashback Brothers. Heritage Park Amphitheater, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Fireworks - June 8 (dusk)
The fireworks will be let off from the driving range at the Cedar Hills Golf Club near Mesquite Park, 10440 N Mesquite Way.

A Taste of Cedar Hills—Baking Contest
Do you like to bake? Enter a baked item in the Family Festival baking contest for a chance to win great prizes! This year there are two age categories: 13 and younger, and 14 and older. The contest will be held on Sat., June 8, at the Heritage Park pavilion at 4:00 p.m. If you would like to enter the contest, please submit the Registration Form to the City office by June 7. Become a Family Festival Volunteer
Attention—families, organizations, and businesses. Volunteering for the Family Festival is both rewarding and fun. It's an opportunity to serve others and to meet many wonderful people in the community. Training is provided, and each volunteer is given a 2013 Family Festival T-shirt. Craft Exhibitors and Food Vendors
Crafts, art objects, and other items, along with food, cold drinks, and other types of refreshments will be available for sale at Family Festival on Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8. All vendors and exhibitors wishing to participate, including families with vending carts or wagons, must register with the City’s vendor agent, Terry Marchbanks, at terrymarchbanks@yahoo.com or 801-361-7828.
