YOUTH CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Thursday, October 19, 2006  7:00 PM

Public Safety Building

ATTENDANCE:

1.        This meeting was called to order at 7:17 PM.

2.    Approve of September 13, 2006, September 20, 2006, & October 5, 2006 minute

September 13 & September 20 minutes were approved. We will approve October 5th's minutes next time.

 

3.       Budget

a.       What do we have = $731.98

b.      What can we do = Local Official’s Day

c.       How much do we need in sponsorships = Easter Egg Hunt, Light up Cedar Hills, YCC Leadership Institute

d.      How do we get sponsorships = designate companies, divide, contact, have specific use of money beforehand, letter, form, levels of sponsorship, how are sponsors acknowledged.  Come to next meeting with list of personal contacts that everyone has with sponsors and phone numbers.  Ciara will type up letter of sponsorship on letterhead

e.      Do we want to give something back to the City = sign, clean up an area, bench, tree, pavilion?

4.       Shirts

a.       Do we want?  YES

b.      T-shirt, Long sleeve, Hooded Sweatshirt?  Navy hooded sweatshirt, white lettering, name on hood

c.       Design:  bring ideas to next meeting where we will decide

5.       2006/2007 Events

a.       YCC tri-city event:  A YCC dinner and dance possibly…from budget.  To be held in January

b.      Fair:  No fair planned for 2006-2007

c.       Seminar:  We need to find speakers. (possibly Miss Utah, Miss Utah county, Brady (old Lone Peak student body president), Single’s Ward comedian

d.      Light up Cedar Hills:  Need donations

e.      Easter Egg Hunt:  Need sponsors

f.        We also want to start an area council. Possibly November 8th at 5:00 pm.  Come to next meeting with ideas of what we want to accomplish at tri-city youth council meeting.  Ciara will e-mail Rich confirmation of time/date/place of meeting  Rich will contact Highland & Alpine to invite.

 

6.       Conferences

a.       YCC Leadership Institute

                                                               i.      Utah State University

                                                             ii.      March 15-17, 2007

                                                            iii.      $130 per person = $1170

                                                           iv.      Everyone wants to participate

                                                             v.      Rich will look into hotel sponsorship so that cost is $100 per person

                                                           vi.      Event needs to be sponsored

b.      Local Officials Day

                                                               i.      Salt Lake

                                                             ii.      January 17, 2007

                                                            iii.      $30 per person = $270

                                                           iv.      Everyone wants to participate

                                                             v.      Out of pocket expense

 

7.       Introduction to other YCC’s in Utah County

a.       Send out letter announcing new YCC:  Ciara will write letter and send out next week.

b.      Plan an event to meet others, share ideas:  Wednesday, November 8 from 5-7PM.

c.       Plan YCC events together:  tri-city youth council

 

8.       Scarecrow Judging

a.       Prizes:  Ciara will pick up gift cards from Wal-mart

b.      Meet Tuesday at 3pm to Judge
