YOUTH CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Present:           Hillary Naisbitt, Youth Mayor Pro-Tempore

Youth City Council Members:  Kylee Gordon, Ashley Clingo

Ciara Decker, YCC Staff Advisor

Jim Perry, Council Member Advisor

 

 

1.        This meeting of the Youth City Council of the City of Cedar Hills was called to order at 7:09 PM.

 

2.       Approval of January 4, 2007 minutes:

MOTION:  Hillary Naisbitt - To approve the minutes from the January 4, 2007 meeting. Seconded by Ashley Clingo.

3.       Sponsors

a.       Report from Mitchell Webb:  Absent

b.      Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to e-mail Brad Sears regarding $200 donation.

 

4.       Conferences

a.       Youth City Council Leadership Conference

                                                               i.      Who is confirmed:  YES – Richard Knapp, Mitchell Webb, Riley Spear, Ciara Decker; No – Kylee Gordon, Taylor Bevell, Hillary Naisbitt; Maybe – Ashley Clingo.  Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to register online those confirmed.

                                                             ii.      Size shirts those attending want:  Ciara Decker – Adult small; Richard Knapp – Adult medium; Mitchell Webb – Adult medium; Riley Spear – Adult medium

                                                            iii.      Hand out permission slip:  Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to write up permission slip and hand out next meeting

 

5.       Seminar:  Thursday, March 8, 2007  7-8:30 PM

a.       Confirmed Location:  Little Theater @ LPHS – TAYLOR BEVELL:  Absent

b.      Confirmed speakers:  Mr. Durrant, Brady Rice, Michael Birkland, Miss Utah County Brittney Harper:  Riley Spear confirmed, Ciara Decker confirmed

c.       Refreshments:  RILEY SPEAR – absent. 

                                                               i.      Budget:  $3/box of 50

                                                             ii.      Pick up when:  Day before?

                                                            iii.      How Many:  5 or 6 boxes?

d.      Flyers, announcements:  ASHLEY CLINGO - Action Needed:  edit flyer and e-mail Ciara Decker

                                                               i.      Table:  2x per week for next 4 weeks – Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to make schedule and have YCC sign up

                                                             ii.      Announcements at school:  video – Action Needed:  Riley Spear to set up

                                                            iii.      School newspaper – Action Needed:  Riley Spear to set up

                                                           iv.      Mountain Ridge Junior High School:  Kylee Gordon – Action Needed:  Kylee Gordon to send Ciara Decker names and numbers of who to contact to promote seminar

                                                             v.      Announce in clubs at school – Action Needed:  Hillary Naisbitt to visit major clubs and teachers to promote and hand out flyers

                                                           vi.      Have Mr. Durrant encourage his classes to come – Action Needed:  Riley Spear to talk to Mr. Durrant about this.

 

6.       Youth Web site / Blog:  Mitchell Webb – absent.  Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to e-mail for update.

d.      How will we advertise this now?

 

7.       Easter Egg Hunt:  Saturday, April 7, 2007  @ 11AM

a.       Budget

                                                               i.      Candy, bunny suit – Action Needed:  YCC to find someone to wear bunny suit

                                                             ii.      Sponsors from last year – Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to send out letters

                                                            iii.      New sponsors

                                                           iv.      Who will contact

b.      Advertising

                                                               i.      Flyers to elementary schools – Action Needed:  Ciara Decker to design flyer and get approved by Alpine School District, copy, and deliver to schools

                                                             ii.      Signs

c.       Volunteers

d.      Photos:  Have photos at 10AM and at 11:15AM (right after hunt) for FREE

e.      Pet the Bunny:  people across from Kim Holindrake’s house have bunnies

f.        Age groups, organization

 

8.       This meeting adjourned at approximately 7:51 PM.
