YOUTH CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

Present:           Taylor Bevell, Youth Mayor

Hillary Naisbitt, Youth Mayor Pro-Tempore

Youth City Council Members:  Mitchell Web, Riley Spear, Kylee Gordon, Ashley Clingo, Richard Knapp

Ciara Decker, YCC Staff Advisor

Jim Perry, Council Member Advisor

 

1.        This meeting of the Youth City Council of the City of Cedar Hills was called to order at 7:06 PM.

 

2.       Approval of December  7, 2006 minutes:

MOTION: Richard Knapp - To approve the minutes from the December 7, 2006 meeting. Seconded by Mitchell Webb.

3.       Light up Cedar Hills

a.       Thank you to sponsors:  Action needed:  Hillary Naisbitt will mail out.  Ciara Decker gave her Cedar Hills letterhead.

b.      Pictures needed:   Action needed:  Ashley Clingo will e-mail

 

4.       Sponsors

a.       How much do we have so far:  Mitchell Webb has raised a possible $200.

 

5.       Hooded Sweatshirts

a.       Payment due $20 for:  Jim Perry, Ciara Decker, Hillary Naisbitt, Richard Knapp, Kacee Hildebrandt – Ciara Decker paid with check # 1070, Jim Perry paid with cash in office, Richard Knapp paid with cash.

b.      Hand out Hooded Sweatshirts:  Kacee Hildebrandt did not receive sweatshirt since she was not in attendance.

 

6.       Conferences

a.       Youth City Council Leadership Conference

                                                               i.      Can we stay in hotel?  Yes, Richard Knapp’s dad will let us stay in his hotel in Logan.

                                                             ii.      How much more sponsorships do we need?  Not as many people going because of choir trip.  Probably just 4 of us will attend x $140 = $560  Action Needed:  Council will get confirmed whether they will attend or not.

b.      Local Officials’ Day

                                                               i.      Permission Slip due for: Taylor Bevell, Ashley Clingo, Richard Knapp – Taylor Bevell received, Ashley Clingo not attending, Richard Knapp received

                                                             ii.      Payment due ($30) for:  Ciara Decker, Taylor Bevell, Hillary Naisbitt, Mitchell Webb, Ashley Clingo, Richard Knapp, Kacee Hildebrandt – Ciara Decker paid by City, Taylor received check #2903, Hillary Naisbitt not received, Mitchell Webb received $40 cash ($10 change due), Richard Knapp received cash, Kacee Hildebrandt not present, Ashley not attending.

 

7.       Seminar:  changed to March 8

a.       Confirmed location:  Little theater @ LPHS – Action needed:  Taylor Bevell will confirm with LPHS if it is ok to have date change.

b.      Confirmed speakers:  Mr. Durrant, Brady, Michael Birkland – Action needed:  Riley Spear will confirm new date with speakers

c.       Speakers in question:  Miss Utah – Action needed:  Richard Knapp will call this week

d.      Refreshments

                                                               i.      Budget:  $2 per 50 cookies

                                                             ii.      Pick up when:  Day of

                                                            iii.      How many:  500 cookies total

e.      Flyers, announcements

                                                               i.      Table:  Action needed – Ciara Decker will call Vice Mower or Brahmly to get event encouraged by school

                                                             ii.      Announcements at school:  Action needed – Riley Spear will talk to Gary Dunn about getting it on Video Announcements

                                                            iii.      School newspaper

                                                           iv.      Mountain Ridge Junior High:  Action needed – Ciara Decker will call Vice at school to get them to announce seminar for 9th graders at assemblies & call Timberline to do the same

                                                             v.      Announce in clubs at school:  Action needed – Richard Knapp will have FBLA support the event/sponsor if needed to get publicity at school

                                                           vi.      Have Mr. Durrant encourage his classes to come

 

8.       Tri-City YCC

a.       January 3, 2007 7pm meeting minutes:  meeting not attended.  Action needed:  Richard Knapp will find out when next meeting is.

 

9.       Youth Web site/blog

a.       What is domain name?  Action needed:  Mitchell Webb will set up with Jim Perry

b.      Who will set up and maintain?  Mitchell Webb

c.       What information do we want to start with?  Contact info, Forum, Calendar, Sponsors, Video/music, Enter drawing for a prize when you set up an account

d.      How will we advertise this now?

 

10.   This meeting adjourned at approximately 8:14 PM.

ACTION REQUIRED:

Riley Spear:  Confirm with Brady, Mr. Durrant, & Michael Birkland if March 8 is ok date still.  Talk to Gary Dunn to get seminar announced on video announcements

Taylor Bevelle:  Ask if March 8 will work for little gym.

Hillary Naisbitt:  Mail out thank you letters to sponsors for Light up Cedar Hills.  Payment for hooded sweatshirt ($20)

Mitchell Web:  Set up Web site with Jim Perry.

Kylee Gordon: 

Ashley Clingo:  E-mail Ciara Decker Light up Cedar Hills photos.

Richard Knapp:  Attend Alpine’s YCC

Ciara Decker:  Call High School & Jr. Highs to encourage them to support seminar.

 

EVERYONE:  Confirm with Ciara Decker whether or not you will be attending Leadership Conference in Logan - Thursday, March 15 (10am) to Saturday, March 17 (2pm).

 

NEXT MEETING:  THURSDAY, JANUARY 17, 2007 – LOCAL OFFICIALS’ DAY
