This Work Session of the Planning Commission of the City of Cedar Hills, Utah, having been posted throughout the City and the press notified, was called to order at 7:17 p.m.
Items of Discussion:
Sign Ordinance
• Flag Page 2, Lines 21-22, need clarification from City staff and members of the Commission about what “maximum allowable” means.
• Page 2, Line 33, put a period after 180 days and strike the rest of the sentence. This change was made for simplification.
• Page 3, Line 17, change “five working days” to “72 hours.”
• Page 3, Line 21, replace the last sentence of the paragraph that begins “A shorter time period . . .” with “If a sign presents an immediate threat to health, safety or welfare, the Zoning Administrator may direct the immediate removal or repair of the sign. After such action, the Zoning administrator shall notify the person having charge, control or benefit of said sign.”
• Copy last sentence of Paragraph B beginning on Page 3, Line 40 starting with “the person responsible for” to the end of Paragraph 3C, Page 4, Line 2, and remove the word “illegal.”
• Page 4, Line 10 Make a new paragraph for definitions with the following definition for “abandoned:” “A sign shall be considered abandoned and shall be removed after the activity, product, business, service or other use which it advertised has ceased or has vacated the premises for a period not less than 30 days.” Later, a definition for non-maintained will be added.
• Paragraph C, Page 3, Line 45, break the paragraph after the first sentence. Strike language saying “not withstanding the foregoing the sign though removed.” The new paragraph (Paragraph D) would say “Any sign removed by the City” and then continue with language starting on line 46.
