SPECIAL PARKS AND TRAILS COMMITTEE MEETING

1.         This meeting of the Parks and Trails Committee of the City of Cedar Hills, having been posted throughout the City and the press notified, was called to order at 8:10 p.m.

2.         Approval of Minutes from the August 10, 2006 Meeting

            No minutes to approve.

3.         Welcome to Community Services Director

            Ciara Decker explained she will come to meetings instead of Konrad Hildebrandt.

4.         Eagle Projects

            Frisbee Golf Discussion

Dave Told is acting as the liaison between the eagle scout and the Committee. The Committee walked the park, outlined where it would be best to put poles, and made suggestions. They came up with these thoughts/questions:

•          How to prevent the poles from getting stolen (if they are removable)?

•          Should the poles be removable or just be tucked into the trees?

•          Change of layout.

•          Concrete in the vinyl post with a concrete base.

•          The scout needs to get the concrete donated (via fund raising), so the City can make a map and rules.

•          Have the scout play the course with his troop.

•          Mark post locations with the City staff (Ciara Decker and Public Works)

5.         Community Trails Meeting

            October 12 – Dave Told will be attending.

6.         Parks Up-To-Date Worksheet

            A.        Discussion of status of recent park project bids

                        •          Go over updates on parks with Konrad Hildebrandt to inform at next meeting.

                        •          Sod Party at 8 a.m., Saturday, September 30 (PUT THIS ON AGENDA)

                        •          Have Kim Holindrake send e-mail to everyone she sends an agenda to remind them of the sod party.

                        •          Cottages Parcel: put on the back burner because so much is going on with other parks; plat map of park needed.

                        •          Cedars Townhouse: still standing.

                        •          Pumphouse Trailhead: follow up on this; recommended changes per Parks and Trails Committee

            B.        Future Financial Planning of Parks (fund raising)

            C.        Timelines for Park Completion

                        •          Two done at the end of the month.

            D.        Harvey Park Review

                        •          See map

7.         Bonneville Shoreline Trail Update

            A. Grant Update: received grant, property owners need to sign to allow an easement

8.         Yard of the Month

            Two gift cards will be handed out next week. One to Shelly Pitts on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

            C. Recreation Liaison (Stephanie)

            D. Staff/Committee Reports (recreation feasibility study report)

                        Ciara Decker will get this updated for the next meeting.

10.       Review/Discuss Miscellaneous Concerns

            •          Get an update for the power for the fountain at the roundabout .

            •          Remind the Planning Commission of the parks and trails meeting. One representative needs to come to each meeting.
