PARKS AND TRAILS COMMITTEE MEETING

1.         This meeting of the Parks and Trails Committee of the City of Cedar Hills, having been posted throughout the City and the press notified, was called to order at 7:07 p.m. by Stephanie Martinez.

 

2.         Approval of Minutes from the April 11, 2007 meeting


MOTION: Peter Karp - To approve the minutes from the April 11, 2007 meeting. Seconded by Jim Loveridge.

3.         Eagle Projects Reports

            A.        Sign for Frisbee Golf Course - Action Needed: Ciara Decker to check status on signs.

            B.        Doral Update - bench and table were picked up from Public Works building and should be installed this weekend.


4.         General Plan

            A.        Update Current and Proposed Parks (document packet) - Ciara Decker made photo copy of Peter Karp’s notes. Action Needed: Stephanie Martinez will bring in copy of her notes on packet. Canyon Heights update by Jim Loveridge. Action Needed: Ciara Decker to find out if tot lots will be put in sections according to available money. Also, Ciara Decker will find out why the Hillside parcel is still in the plan if it is not City owned property. Charelle Bowman will find out if money for Mesquite Park will go toward Canyon Heights park. Stephanie Martinez gave an update on the “rumor” of the Cedars Town homes parcel. The parcel consists of a big mound of dirt that trucks dump on daily. Highland Homes will deed the property to the HOA. The HOA will supposedly approach the City to help create a park.

            B.        Discuss Grove and development on #15 hole on golf course - The City attorney drafted up a document to develop this. The grove will sell for 2.5 million.


MOTION: Peter Karp- To make sure the City involves Parks and Trails Committe with the trail re-location in the grove development. Seconded by Michael Stuy.

5.         Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BOSH) Update

            A.        Update/Discuss current Grant of BOSH 2 - Action Needed: Ciara Decker to get update from David Bunker.

            B.        Update Trail placement through Bayhill Park - Action Needed: Ciara Decker to ask Konrad Hildebrandt if there’s a map of where the trail is placed in the pumphouse park (since it was re-located due to power lines).

 

6.         Yard of the Month Discussion

            A.        Assign quadrants - Peter Karp will take Jon Woozley’s assigned area from last year. The rest of the committee will keep assigned area from last year. Jim Loveridge has 2 signs in his garage. Stephanie Martinez handed out 4 $40 gift certificates from Highland Gardens to give as prizes. Action Needed: Ciara Decker to draft a letter and have signed by Mayor McGee thanking Highland Gardens for donation.

            B.        Newsletter Information - Action Needed: Ciara Decker to make sure Highland Gardens gets recognized in June’s newsletter for their donation. Also, make sure the Eagle scout gets recognized in newsletter for Doral Park benches and table, and also mention yard of the month winners.

 

7.         National Trails Day: June 2, 2007

            A.       Newsletter information & map - Action Needed: Charelle Bowman will get quote for map.

            B.        Discussion & Budget for 2008 NTD.- Action Needed: Stephanie Martinez requested Charelle Bowman put $5,000 in Parks & Trails budget for FY07-FY08 for map printing and the National Trails Day Event.


8.         Committee Assignments and Reports

            A.        Council Meetings Report (Charelle Bowman) - Joel Wright will leave the City Council in August.

            B.        Planning Commission Meeting Report (Clifton Chandler) - Wal-mart has been approved by planning commission and is going to Council for final approval on Tuesday.

            C.        Recreation Liaison (Stephanie Martinez) - fall sign-ups are busy

D. Staff/Committee Reports (Ciara Decker) -family festival is busy

            E.        Assignments and Miscellaneous

This meeting adjourned at 8:03 p.m. on a motion by Stephanie Martinez, seconded by Peter Karp and unanimously approved.
