PARKS AND TRAILS COMMITTEE MEETING

1.         This meeting of the Parks and Trails Committee of the City of Cedar Hills, having been posted throughout the City and the press notified, was called to order at 5:45 p.m. by Jon Woozley.

2.         Approval of Minutes from the November 9, 2006, Meeting

MOTION: Jon Woozley - To approve the minutes from the November 9, 2006 meeting. Seconded by Stephanie Martinez.

3.         Eagle Projects Reports

A.        Frisbee Golf Progress - This is in progress. The Scout is earning money for concrete. Action Needed - Ciara Decker will find out what the process is to get the sign made by the City.

B.        Doral Drive Park Project - Stephanie Martinez has taken over working with the Scout since it is in her neighborhood. Action Needed - Ciara Decker will ask David Bunker if a landscape block wall is ok to put there. With the shrubbery on the North side is there room for a picnic table? What type of bench is allowed? What if they want to do one bench and one table instead of two benches? Can the City provide the money needed for the cost of two benches and the scout comes up with the rest of the money?

            C.       Future projects - Trees are needed at the roundabout at Bayhill Drive and Cottonwood Drive. Trees are needed along Bayhill Drive from Canyon Road to the roundabout.

4.         General Plan

A.       Update current and proposed parks - Action Needed - Ciara Decker will get the dimensions for the park in The Cottages at Canyon Heights from David Bunker. The Hillside Parcel needs to be deleted.

B.       Add/Update Bonneville Shoreline Trail - Action Needed - Add the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and trailhead to the General Plan.

C.       Add Skate Park - Action Needed - Ciara Decker will add verbiage of a Skate Park and a Splash Park to Harvey Parcel to the General Plan.

5.         Parks Up-To-Date Worksheet

            A.        Park Names - The Committee proposed Mahogany Ridge or Canyon Heights for names for the new park on Timpanogos Cove. Action Needed - Ciara Decker will put something in the Newsletter to have the citizens of Cedar Hills vote a name for the Doral Drive Park.

6.         Bonneville Shoreline Trail Update

A. Grant Update - Action Needed - Ciara Decker will ask Konrad Hildebrandt, City Manager, for an update regarding the environmental impact as well as if the City has received a written letter of approval. The 50/50 grant for the Bonneville Shoreline Trail needs to be added to the budget. She will also ask what the basics of the bid were, ie. begins at the LDS Church on Bayhill Drive and goes south to what point.

7.         Yard of the Month Discussion

            No discussion.

8.         Committee Assignments and Reports

            A.        Council Meetings Report - Charelle Bowman had no additional reports.

            B.        Planning Commission Meeting Report - Action Needed - Ciara Decker will speak with Kim Holindrake, City Recorder, to personally invite someone to attend these meetings.

            C.        Recreation Liaison (Stephanie) - No updates.

            D.        Staff/Committee Reports - No additional reports.

            E.        Assignments and Miscellaneous - Action Needed - Ciara Decker will make sure the UDOT grant is on the January agenda. She will also ask Konrad Hildebrandt, City Manager, if there will be bollards installed on the other side at Timpanogos Cove in addition to the south boundary of the City with signage on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

9.         Review/Discuss Miscellaneous Concerns

            A.        Review/Approve the 2007 Meeting Schedule - changed meeting date from January 10 to January 17, 2007.

MOTION: Jon Woozley - To approve the 2007 revised meeting schedule. Seconded by Jim Loveridge.
