Lone Peak Youth Basball Registration through March 4
Parents of youth baseball players ages 4 to 15 living in North Utah County (including Cedar Hills) can register through March 4 online at: www.lpbaseball.org. Games will be played in Alpine, Highland, and Cedar Hills from early April through the first week of June. There will be a try-out for ages 8 to 15 in Alpine on March 10. Details can be found on the league's Web site. Last year players from Cedar Hills participated in the Cal Ripken State Championships at ages 8, 10, 11, and 12.
The league is a non-profit, parent-run organization, which has grown into one of the premier youth baseball programs in the state of Utah. Athletes from all North Utah County communities are welcome to play; there is no requirement to live in one of the three cities or in Lone Peak High School boundaries. The league offers recreation or competition play. All information regarding leagues, schedules, and registration may be found on the league's Web site. Boys and girls ages 4-15 may sign up. Please note: This league is not run by the cities of Highland, Alpine, or Cedar Hills. It is a volunteer-run organization, which serves all North Utah County communities equally.

Scout food drive makes giving easy - March 24
Once again, the Scouts in our community are out to serve. On the morning of Saturday, March 24, they will collect non-perishable food and hygiene items in their neighborhoods. To avoid an early morning knock, leave donations on the doorstep before 8:00 a.m. In an effort to go green, residents are asked to fill their own plastic or paper bags with donations and leave them outside for collection. Please avoid items in glass containers. All donations will go to the Community Action Food Bank, which serves Utah, Wasatch, and Summit Counties, and will feed families in need right here in our community. Don't miss out on this chance to make a difference. To make a monetary donation or to find out more about the drive, visit www.CommunityActionUC.org . If you have specific questions about donations, please contact Eric Lafferty at (801) 691-5237.

The new Community Recreation Center, which is planned for completion in the spring of 2012, may now be booked for family reunions, wedding receptions, business gatherings, or any other purpose for those who are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Utah Valley views. Residents of Cedar Hills are also able to receive special rates. For more details, please contact the event coordinator at 801-785-9668, ext. 111, or by e-mail at Events. The center promises to be a gathering place, where residents and neighbors can socialize, attend fitness and leisure activities, or simply enjoy an ice cream cone.
A New Place for Gatherings and Recreation
The City's new Community Recreation Center will be finished in the early months of 2012. The center is designed to be a community gathering place for activities such as dance, aerobics, zumba, karate, etc. Additionally the spacious room may be reserved for parties and receptions. It is a beautiful venue with the most gorgeous views anywhere around, and will be completely functional as of April 1. There will be special rates for residents of Cedar Hills. In addition, the center will feature a fully operational grill, designed to be a community gathering place, where parents can take their kids for an ice cream cone and families can enjoy casual fare right here at home. Please call: 801-785-9668, ext. 111, or e-mail for more information.
WINTERIZING PRESSURIZED IRRIGATION
The pressurized irrigation will be winterized until April 15. Prior to the system being energized in the spring, you should make sure that you remembered to shut the individual shut-off valve. This will prevent your sprinkler components from being damaged during energization on April 15.
New Community Recreation Center (CoRC) Instructors Needed!
The City is anxiously awaiting the completion of the Community Recreation Center, which will be finished in the early months of 2012. The center will offer a variety of recreation and leisure classes, and we want to tap into residents' talents and skills to become instructors. We are accepting applications from instructors of dance, aerobics, zumba, karate, etc. for adult and children's classes. If you are interested or know someone who is interested in this exciting recreational opportunity, please contact the City office.

There will be two full-time firefighters/emergency medical staff at the station 24/7. Cedar Hills residents will now receive quicker emergency response. The department also responds to emergencies in American Fork Canyon. Residents can call to set up fire station tours in any of the three cities for school or Scout activities and CPR/First Aid training. Recycling Old Phone Books
Residents with curbside recycling service are asked to recycle the old books in the blue toter. Others may drop the book off at the City offices or place it in the GreenFiber recycling receptacle behind the City building at 3925 W. Cedar Hills Drive. Recycling makes a difference. Thank you for recycling and ensuring that the old directory continues its journey to the next step of its lifecycle.
GreenFiber Recycling
For residents who do not have curbside recycling toters, the City provides a GreenFiber collection dumpster, located behind the City building, for catalogs, phone books, office paper, junk mail, and broken-down cardboard boxes. If it will fit in the chutes, they’ll take it. The City may lose the dumpster if more of this material is not disposed there. The City receives a small revenue each month based on the weight of the material, and it is a convenient way to recycle. Thanks for your help.
Free Landfill Passes
Each household may receive two passes per year from the City office to the North Pointe Solid Waste Special Service District (2000 West 200 South, Lindon). The following items are not permitted at the dump: commercial or building debris, liquids, or hazardous waste. Questions about hours of operation, etc., can be directed to the landfill at 801-225-8538.
North Utah County Library Cooperative
The cities of American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lehi, and Eagle Mountain have agreed to participate in a reciprocal borrowing system that will allow library card holders at any of the cooperating libraries to check out materials from all four libraries. (This is not a county library system.) Library borrowers are encouraged to search for needed materials at their home library before searching the other libraries’ online catalogs. Each library will continue to function as it currently does in terms of policies, budget, administration, non-resident card fees, etc. Requests (holds) made to a library other than the home library will not be honored. The intent is to allow card holders of each library first access to the materials at that library.
American Fork City Arts Council
The AFAC invites Cedar Hills residents to participate in their arts events and performances. Click here for more information.
