Ashleigh Nicole Cox

March 31, 2014

The Lone Peak Fire Department is accepting donations for the installation of a much-needed emergency telephone in American Fork Canyon. The department established a fund in memory of Ashleigh Nicole Cox, a 21-year-old BYU student from Colorado, who was tragically killed in a canyon avalanche on February 8, 2014. Bystanders had to drive down the canyon in order to get cell service before they could call 9-1-1.

There are over 1.2 million visitors who recreate in American Fork Canyon each year. Installation of a telephone in the canyon could make a difference in an emergency, when every minute counts! It is time to make a difference so this never happens again. The fund has been established at the Bank of American Fork nearest you. Just stop by any branch to make a donation.
