Curbside Recycling in Cedar Hills

Below is a list of acceptable and unacceptable items for recycling. If you have any questions about the list or about items not mentioned, contact Waste Management's Customer Service Department at 801-785-3000.

Acceptable Items

Please give all containers a quick rinse before recycling.

  • newspapers
  • magazines
  • glossy ads
  • telephone books
  • plastic containers (see examples below)
  • tin cans
  • aluminum cans
  • corrugated cardboard
  • cereal boxes
  • tissue boxes
  • metal clothing hangers
  • paper towel and toilet paper rolls
  • junk mail
  • plastics #1 (e.g. pop bottles)
  • plastics #2 (e.g. milk jugs, colored laundry detergent bottles, water bottles, and other natural-colored plastics)

Unacceptable Items

  • glass
  • styrofoam
  • plastics not categorized as #1 or #2
  • plastic grocery-type bags, even if they have a #2 on them
  • food waste
  • green waste
  • dirt or rocks
  • large applicances (e.g. dishwashers, water heaters, washing machines, dryers, etc.)

Additional Information

  • Do not screw plastic lids back onto plastic bottles and jugs.
  • Plastic grocery sacks may NOT be recycled, even if they have a #2 on them.
  • Most auto parts stores will accept old car batteries and old motor oil and antifreeze at no charge. Keep various fluids separate.
  • Many products and materials, including green waste, can be taken to the Northpointe Solid Waste Transfer Station in Lindon. For more information, call 801-225-8538.
