Questions
Water
The City owns and operates its own water utility system, serving
almost 1,900 residential connections. This water is provided through City
wells and system connections with American Fork’s water system.
Cedar Hills has currently constructed a secondary irrigation system throughout
the City. Furthermore, a private water company provides service for a
small portion of Cedar Hills.
A new culinary water tank was completed in 2002 for properties above
an elevation of 5,100 feet. A pressurized irrigation storage tank for
the City’s pressurized irrigation system and possibly additional
water sources and water rights was also completed in 2002.
Over the next ten years, the City will construct additional storage space,
develop new sources of water, provide for additional water rights, and
make various improvements to the existing water and pressurized irrigation
distribution network.
Sewer
Cedar Hills provides and maintains all of the existing sewer
lines within the City. Wastewater treatment is provided through the Timpanogos
Special Service District (TSSD) in conjunction with all the other communities
in the northern portion of Utah County. Currently, sewer services are
provided to almost all portions of Cedar Hills, with the exception of
a few individual properties located in the south central portion of the
City.
New development installs all of their own sewer connections. The City
has put a tremendous effort in installing sewer service to all community
residents. Within the next ten years, the City will provide sewer services
to all portions of Cedar Hills and will make various improvements in the
existing sewer network.
One of the biggest challenges to the sewer system relates specifically
to storm sewer. Major deficiencies exist throughout the City’s storm
sewer system with large portions of the City’s south-central side
not served by storm sewer. Cedar Hills recently enacted a storm sewer
fee for all residents and has plans to provide for a storm sewer system
throughout the community within the next ten years. Storm sewer improvements
include the installation of retention/detention basins, installation of
storm sewer lines, maintenance and improvement of existing storm sewer
sumps, and possible treatment of storm water.

Streets
Cedar Hills maintains approximately 22 miles of roads. The City plans
to provide for additional equipment for the maintenance of the roads,
as well as storage facilities to house the equipment and materials. The
City recently completed the East Harvey Boulevard connection to Canyon Road, creating a second
east/west corridor through the City in addition to Cedar Hills Drive. Click here to download a Street Cut and/or Excavation Permit request.

Snow Removal
The Public Works Department maintains approximately 28 miles of roads, public trails, and government building parking lots within the City. These areas are maintained for snow removal, ice control, and salting from November 1 to March 31. The City staff is committed to provide safe conditions for City residents and safety vehicles. Click here for more information, including detailed snow removal procedures and on-street parking regulations during the winter months.

Public Works Department FAQ
When will the pressurized irrigation water be turned on/off?
The pressurized irrigation system is turned on approximately April 15,
and then shut off approximately October 15.
For those residents who are connected to the system, please remember to keep the valve closest to the street open, and then the valve to your individual irrigation system closed until the water is turned on around April 15. This is a safety precaution to protect your sprinkler pipes from possible damage.
How do I get connected to the Pressurized Irrigation System?
One of the first steps is to come to the City office and obtain an irrigation
information packet that includes step-by-step instructions for connection
to the PI system. The signed Installation Permit and signed Connection
Agreement (all included in the packet) must be returned to the City office to initiate an inspection of the connection, which will be done usually within 24 to 48 hours after the City receives the signed documents. All connections to the PI system must be inspected
and approved by the City’s Public Works Department.
When will the park restrooms be opened/closed?
The restrooms in all the parks are opened for the season around mid-April and are closed again
around the first of October.
How do I report a broken or burned-out street lamp?
You may call Rocky Mountain Power directly. Their call center will take the information
and send someone to repair the light. The phone number for Rocky Mountain Power
is toll-free: 1 (888) 221-7070.
How can I schedule a Water/Sewer Lateral Inspection for my construction?
Inspections can be scheduled by calling the Public Works Department
during regular business hours. Inspections are scheduled weekdays between
8-9am or 8-10am, depending on the number of inspections scheduled for
that day. Inspections must be requested and scheduled the day before they
are needed, a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
May I obtain a Street Cut and/or Excavation Permit online?
Click
here to download a Street Cut and/or Excavation Permit request. Anyone
planning for any reason to cut into the road must complete this permit
and have it signed and approved by the City engineer.
